Physiology—General Principles

by Thad Wilson, PhD

Physiology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the main biochemical principles involved in the appropriate functioning of humans. The most important of these functions is the concept of homeostasis, which describes the autoregulatory properties of a living being.

In this course, the student will be introduced to the basic concepts of human physiology, membrane physiology, body temperature regulation, and acid-base balance.

For optimal comprehension, the student must have a preliminary understanding of molecular and cellular biology, emphasizing biochemistry, and histology. The parallel study of anatomy is encouraged.

response to your qns
By Lariat A. on 20. March 2024 for Membrane Physiology

while visual aids were pretty cool, the lecture was more of narration but not with simplicity and in-depth tutoring i am accustomed to. I was hoping for more variation, which was the reason i spent a little more time watching them. After a few, i concluded that it wasn't doing it for me. But of course, it was only a few topics i reviewed as i was busy with clinical rotations. thank you all in all.

Thank you so much, Dr Thad. You're very clever in coming up with the 'gnomes' example, which is perfect for quickly understanding Acid-base. Thanks again.
